Press release 6 July, 2021
- PMG takes another step towards creating a central data hub for publishers
- Higher quality standards for conversion of publisher content in multiple languages
- Digital secondary marketing becomes easier and cheaper for publishers
Berlin. PMG Presse-Monitor has acquired the media solutions and software house X-CAGO. Founded in The Netherlands, X-CAGO is internationally renowned for converting and standardising a wide variety of content formats to enable further commercialisation, syndication and content aggregation on behalf of publishers as well as for its leading digital archive solution, which many leading publishers also use as a content distribution platform.
Increased content distribution possible thanks to central data standards and formats
“We are now bringing together the extensive specialist knowledge of the X-CAGO and PMG teams in the conversion and provision of high-quality digital publishing content,” says Ingo Kästner, Managing Director of PMG, explaining the acquisition of X-CAGO. “In this way, we are creating a higher, central data standard in the publishing industry that is compatible with all formats, now and into the future. We can offer publishers a fast and cost-effective data conversion and archiving solution of the highest quality and guarantee the legally compliant use of the content. X-CAGO’s data standards and schemas enable standardised, format-independent content distribution in both the original and new layouts that opens up unlimited new marketing channels for publishers”.
Welcoming X-CAGO to the PMG family, PMG will complement its extensive range of content and rights marketing services for publishers and position itself more broadly as a service provider for the content management of clients including media houses, publishers and media monitoring companies.
Central data conversion brings publishers further growth from secondary marketing
“Converting print and online content into consistent, accurate, high-quality digital formats suitable for further digital products platforms and devices is anything but easy, but an absolute necessity for publishers,” explains Koos Hussem, CEO and founder of X-CAGO.
“Publishers increasingly want to serve their content to a variety of internal and external channels with their content.
This makes data conversion complex, time-consuming and error-prone, which quickly has a negative impact on the quality of content and the commercial success of content marketing, both in the B2C and B2B sectors. X-CAGO’s solutions has made these complexities simple with leading patented technologies and software”.
By combining their capabilities, X-CAGO and PMG will enable media houses and publishers to access proven technologies and structures and unlock new growth from the expanded marketing of their content. In doing so, they benefit doubly from the new offer: firstly, publishers enjoy fast, cost-effective and high-quality conversion of their content for broad digital dissemination and utilisation; and secondly, they do not have to set up and maintain an expensive infrastructure themselves.
Koos Hussem and Ingo Kästner will be jointly responsible for the management of X-CAGO B.V.
